How do I take care of my high-quality synthetic wig?High-quality synthetic wigs offer a convenient and stylish way to change your look, and they can last a long time with proper care. Follow these care instructions to keep your high-quality synthetic wig in excellent condition: 1. Daily Maintenance: Some wigs can be styled by simply using your finger tips or a styling comb/vented non-bristle brush. Gently brush your wig with a wig brush or wide-tooth comb to remove tangles and prevent matting. Avoid excessive brushing, as it can cause friction and wear down the fibers. After each use for longer wigs, spray Revive Liquid Enhancement and brush through, concentrating on the neck and line area and tip of hair. 2. Washing: Wash your synthetic wig every 10-15 wears, or as needed if it becomes soiled, sweaty, or starts to lose its style. Fill a basin with cool or lukewarm water. Avoid hot water, as it can damage synthetic fibers. Add a small amount of wig-specific shampoo and gently swish the wig in the water to create a soapy lather. Gently agitate the wig with your fingertips, paying attention to the cap and areas that touch your scalp. Rinse the wig thoroughly with cool water until all shampoo residue is gone. Do not wring or twist the wig. 3. Conditioning: Apply a wig conditioner or leave-in conditioner specifically designed for synthetic wigs. Distribute the conditioner evenly through the hair, avoiding the roots. Rinse lightly with cool water or leave a small amount of conditioner in the ends for added softness. 4. Drying: Gently pat the wig with a clean, dry towel to remove excess water. Do not rub or wring the wig. Place the wig on a wig stand or mannequin head to air dry. Ensure it is not exposed to direct sunlight or heat sources. Never use a hairdryer, heated rollers, or other high-heat styling tools on synthetic wigs, as they can damage the fibers. 5. Styling: Style your wig only when it's completely dry. Water itself is a great styling product, wet finger tips or use a light mist spray bottle. Use wig-specific styling products to set and maintain your desired style. For styling, spray Shape Defining Spritz for body and light hold hairspray. You may mix this product with water and create a cocktail to work into hair. 6. Avoid Friction: Be cautious when wearing collars, scarves, or rough-textured fabrics that can cause friction and friction, leading to frizz and tangling. 7. Storage: Store your wig on a wig stand or mannequin head when not in use to help maintain its shape. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat sources. 8. Avoid: Avoid exposure to chlorine from swimming pools, as it can damage synthetic wig fibers. Do not use bleaches, color or any human hair products 9. Regular Inspection: Inspect your wig periodically for any signs of wear, tear, or damage. If needed, consider professional maintenance or repairs. How often should I get my wig refurbished and steamed? The frequency at which you should get your wig refurbished and steamed depends on several factors, including the quality of the wig, how often you wear it, and how well you care for it. Here are some general guidelines: Wig Quality: Higher-quality wigs made from human hair or high-quality synthetic fibers tend to last longer and may require less frequent refurbishing and steaming compared to lower-quality wigs. Wear Frequency: If you wear your wig daily or almost every day, it may require more frequent maintenance than if you wear it only occasionally. Care Routine: Proper care can extend the lifespan of your wig. If you regularly clean, detangle, and store your wig properly, you may not need to refurbish and steam it as often. Type of Wig: Different types of wigs may have different maintenance needs. For example, lace front wigs may need more attention due to the delicate lace and the need to reapply adhesive. Environmental Factors: If you expose your wig to harsh elements like heat, humidity, or pollution, it may require more frequent attention. Personal Preference: Some individuals prefer to keep their wigs looking pristine at all times and may choose to refurbish and steam them more often for a fresh appearance. In general, it's a good idea to inspect your wig regularly and use your judgment. Signs that your wig may need refurbishing and steaming include: Tangling and matting of the hair fibers. Loss of the wig's original style and shape. Frizz or flyaways. Dullness or lack of luster. Unpleasant odors. As a rough guideline, some wig wearers may choose to have their wigs refurbished and steamed every 4-6 weeks if they wear them regularly. However, others may find they can go longer between maintenance sessions. It's important to follow any care instructions provided by the wig manufacturer and consult with a professional wig stylist for specific recommendations based on your wig and usage patterns.

What are the differences between synthetic and human hair wigs?Synthetic vs. Human Hair Wigs: A Comprehensive Comparison Synthetic Hair Wigs: Pros: Synthetic wigs closely resemble the look and feel of natural human hair. They require minimal maintenance, making them convenient and time-saving. Synthetic wigs are generally more affordable than their human hair counterparts. They are highly durable and can last for several years with proper care. Synthetic wigs tend to be lightweight, enhancing overall comfort. Color Retention: Synthetic wigs typically retain their original color and style, even after washing or exposure to the elements. Allergen-Friendly: Synthetic fibers are often hypoallergenic, making them suitable for individuals with sensitivities to certain materials. Pre-Styling: Synthetic wigs come pre-styled, which can be a time-saver for individuals looking for a ready-to-wear option. Cons: Styling Versatility: Styling versatility is somewhat limited compared to human hair wigs. Heat Sensitivity: Synthetic fibers can be damaged by heat, so they are not suitable for hot styling tools like curling irons or straighteners. Lifespan: While they are durable, synthetic wigs have a finite lifespan and may eventually show signs of wear, such as frizz. Limited Styling: While they maintain their style well, synthetic wigs offer limited versatility for restyling or changing the look. Human Hair Wigs: Pros: Natural Look and Feel: Human hair wigs offer the most natural look and feel, as they are made from real human hair. Styling Versatility: You can style human hair wigs just like your own hair, including using heat styling tools and dyeing them to achieve a customized look. Longevity: With proper care, high-quality human hair wigs can last for a year or longer. You can dye them to your preferred hair color, just like natural hair. Cons: Higher Cost: Human hair wigs are generally more expensive than synthetic wigs, and the price can vary significantly based on the quality of the hair. Maintenance: Human hair wigs require more maintenance and styling effort, including regular washing, conditioning, and styling. Sensitive to Climate: Human hair wigs can react to changes in weather and humidity, so they may require more attention in certain conditions. Prolonged exposure to sunlight may cause the color to fade over time. In summary, whether you choose synthetic or human hair wigs depends on your individual preferences, budget, and styling needs. Both types offer their unique advantages and disadvantages, and our commitment is to provide you with high-quality products to enhance your comfort and confidence, no matter which option you prefer.

What's all the hype about high quality synthetic wigs?High-quality synthetic wigs are a fantastic alternative to human hair wigs, offering a more affordable and low-maintenance option while still providing a natural and stylish look. Here are some key features and considerations to look for when shopping for high-quality synthetic wigs: 1. Fiber Quality: Opt for wigs made from high-grade synthetic fibers, such as heat-resistant or heat-friendly synthetic hair. These fibers are more durable and can withstand low to moderate heat for styling purposes. 2. Realistic Texture and Appearance: Look for wigs with fibers that closely mimic the texture and appearance of natural hair, including realistic shine and movement. 3. Cap Construction: High-quality synthetic wigs often come with comfortable and breathable wig caps, such as lace fronts, monofilament tops, or hand-tied caps. These features contribute to a more natural look and feel. 4. Versatility: Choose wigs that allow for various styling options. Some synthetic wigs are pre-styled, while others can be restyled with low heat tools. Versatility adds value to your wig. 5. Color Options: Look for wigs that offer a wide range of color options, including natural shades and trendy, fashion-forward colors. This allows you to match your wig to your desired look. 6. Brand Reputation: Research reputable wig brands known for their high-quality synthetic wigs. Reading customer reviews and seeking recommendations can help you make an informed choice. 7. Comfort and Fit: Ensure the wig has an adjustable cap to provide a secure and comfortable fit. A good fit is crucial for all-day wear. 8. Maintenance and Care: Check if the wig comes with care instructions. High-quality synthetic wigs are designed to be easy to maintain, but proper care will prolong their lifespan. 9. Budget: High-quality synthetic wigs vary in price. While they are generally more affordable than human hair wigs, be prepared to invest in a wig that meets your specific needs and expectations. 10. Retailer or Seller: Purchase from reputable retailers or sellers who specialize in wigs. They can provide expert guidance and support, including wig selection, styling, and maintenance tips. Remember that even high-quality synthetic wigs have a finite lifespan compared to human hair wigs, but with proper care and attention, you can enjoy your synthetic wig for an extended period while maintaining its beautiful appearance.

Are wigs hot or itchy?Wigs are strategically sewn to allow for natural air flow. They are lightweight and adjustable for maximum comfort. We all suffer through blistering Las Vegas summers, wearing a wig is as hot as wearing a hat.
-
Do wigs look fake?High quality wigs are sewn in a natural scalp pattern. Depending on your personal preference there are mono-top wigs showing hair follicles, partial mono, non-mono for a teased root and lace front to give the illusion of hair growing from your scalp. You can also style wigs however you choose. Going to a ball game? Throw it in a ponytail. Formal function? Style a gorgeous up-do. Casual Friday? Pull it back half-way with a fun clip.
-
Do wigs come in many colors?Wigs are made in a large array of colors. You can have one natural shade, blended highlights, dark roots and ombre with long roots. Something unique for everyone!
-
Are wigs bulky? Not all wigs are bulky, there are thousands of styles and therefore many different thickness levels. Wigs should always be cut and styled to someone’s unique features. You can always remove hair but it is difficult to add hair into a wig. This is why all of our wigs come with a custom cut and style so that you feel like your beautiful natural self.
-
Do wigs fall off easily? When worn correctly wigs do not move, you could take a drive in a convertible and feel safe! Our wigs are designed with straps on the inside allowing for tightening or loosening the diameter. We also carry a comfortable hair grip that you can simply wear underneath your wig to avoid any slippage.
-
Do wigs move like natural hair?Don’t be afraid to hit the dance floor because high quality wigs provide us the natural flow and movement we all desire! Avoid cheaply made wigs that are rigid and sewn without proper scalp alignment.
-
Does wearing wigs diminishes natural hair growth? There is no evidence that wearing a wig will inhibit the regrowth of your natural hair. After hair loss from chemotherapy many women choose to continue wearing their wig throughout the growing process until their natural hair is long enough to shape and style.
-
Can I style my wig with heat styling tools?Human hair wigs and some high-quality synthetic wigs are heat-friendly and can be styled with low to moderate heat tools. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for styling to avoid damage.
-
Can I wear my wig while swimming or in hot weather? While you can wear your wig in various weather conditions, we recommend being cautious. Avoid exposing your wig to chlorinated water in swimming pools, and limit prolonged exposure to extreme heat or humidity, as it can affect the wig's longevity.
-
Can I sleep in my wig?It is generally not recommended to sleep in your wig, as it can cause friction and matting. We recommend removing your wig before bedtime and storing it properly.
-
Will insurance cover the cost of my wig (Cranial Hair Prosthesis)? Some insurance providers will cover the cost of your wig with a physician’s prescription. Although we do not bill insurance directly, we will provide you with the necessary information to submit a claim for reimbursement. Please contact your insurance provider and ask if they cover a Cranial Hair Prosthesis (the medical term for a wig) for more information. Here's how you can initiate the process: 1. Contact Your Insurance Provider: Reach out to your insurance company's customer service or claims department. Inquire about their coverage for cranial hair prostheses or wigs for medical reasons. 2. Gather Documentation: Your healthcare provider can play a crucial role in this process. Ask your doctor for a prescription or letter explaining the medical necessity of the wig. Ensure you have all the necessary documents, including receipts and invoices for the wig purchase. 3. Submit a Claim: Follow your insurance company's instructions for submitting a claim. Include all required documentation and paperwork, such as the prescription and receipts. 4. Follow Up: Keep track of your claim's progress and follow up with your insurance company as needed. Stay informed about any additional requirements or documentation they may request. Make sure you review and understand the procedures and policies outlined by your private insurance plan. You can also call your insurance company to check for coverage. Do this before purchasing a wig. Medicare parts A and B do not cover wigs for people undergoing chemotherapy, but some Medicare Advantage (part C) plans may offer limited coverage. If your claim is denied, you can appeal it by writing to the medical review board, emphasizing that a prosthesis is necessary and not a cosmetic item. Include pictures of yourself without hair and detail the emotional effects your hair loss has had on your life. Your employer can also help by writing a letter. If your insurance will not pay for the wig, save your receipt for a potential medical tax deduction.
-
What should my prescription say? Please make sure your oncologist writes a prescription for a "cranial hair prosthesis" and not a "wig."
-
Should I buzz my hair?Your decision to buzz or trim your hair when going through chemotherapy is entirely a matter of personal choice. Here are some considerations to help you decide: 1. **Sensitivity:** Some individuals experience scalp sensitivity and tenderness as their hair begins to fall out during chemotherapy. Trimming or buzzing your hair to a length no shorter than a quarter of an inch can help minimize any discomfort or matting that may occur. 2. **Timing:** Hair loss typically begins within one to three weeks after starting chemotherapy. Trimming or buzzing your hair in anticipation of this can help you feel more in control of the process. 3. **Emotional Comfort:** For some people, cutting their hair shorter before chemotherapy can make the hair loss less emotionally distressing. It allows them to gradually adjust to the change in appearance. 4. **Practicality:** Shorter hair may be easier to manage during treatment, requiring less care and maintenance. It's important to keep in mind that while trimming or buzzing your hair can be a proactive step, you don't need to completely shave your head or take it too short unless that's your preference. You have the flexibility to choose a length that you're comfortable with. Before making a decision, consider consulting with your healthcare provider or oncologist. They can provide guidance based on your specific treatment plan and medical condition. Additionally, discussing your feelings and concerns with loved ones or joining a support group for cancer patients can be helpful during this time. Ultimately, the choice is yours, and it should be one that makes you feel most comfortable and empowered as you navigate through chemotherapy and its effects on your hair.

Hair regrowth process after chemotherapyThe hair regrowth process after chemotherapy varies from person to person, but here's a general idea of what you can expect: 1. **Timing:** Hair regrowth typically begins a few weeks to a few months after the completion of chemotherapy. Some individuals may experience regrowth sooner, while for others, it may take longer. 2. **Texture and Color Changes:** When your hair first starts to grow back, it may appear different from your pre-chemotherapy hair. It might be finer, softer, and even a different color or texture. Over time, it will often return to its previous texture and color. 3. **Rate of Growth:** Initially, your hair may grow very slowly. It's common for the new hair to be only a fraction of an inch long for the first few months. However, the growth rate usually picks up as time goes on. 4. **Patchy Growth:** Hair regrowth can be uneven, leading to a patchy appearance. Some areas may regrow hair more quickly or densely than others. Be patient; this usually evens out over time. 5. **Hair Quality:** The regrown hair may be more susceptible to damage and breakage initially. Handle it gently and avoid excessive heat styling or chemical treatments. 6. **Full Regrowth:** In most cases, a full head of hair will eventually grow back. The exact timing can vary widely, but it is typically within six to twelve months after chemotherapy. 7. **Maintenance:** As your hair continues to grow, you may need to adapt your hair care routine. You can start using mild shampoos and conditioners, and you may want to trim or style your hair as it grows to maintain a manageable appearance. 8. **Emotional Impact:** The regrowth process can be emotionally significant. Some people feel a sense of relief and empowerment as their hair grows back, while others may have mixed emotions. It's normal to have a range of feelings during this time. 9. **Consult with a Stylist:** A professional stylist experienced in post-chemotherapy hair care can provide guidance on managing your regrowing hair and help you choose hairstyles and products that best suit your needs. 10. **Sun Protection:** If your scalp is exposed due to sparse regrowth or thin hair, remember to protect it from the sun by wearing a hat or applying sunscreen to prevent sunburn. Remember that everyone's experience with hair regrowth is unique, so it's essential to be patient with the process and to take care of your hair as it returns. It's also perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about your changing appearance, and seeking support from loved ones or support groups can be helpful during this time. Your healthcare provider can provide more specific information based on your individual situation.

Preventing hair loss during chemotherapyPreventing hair loss during chemotherapy, also known as chemotherapy-induced alopecia (CIA), can be challenging, as the medications used in chemotherapy often target rapidly dividing cells, which includes hair follicles. However, there are a few methods that some individuals have explored to minimize hair loss or promote hair regrowth after treatment. It's important to note that these approaches may not work for everyone, and their effectiveness varies from person to person. Always consult with your healthcare team before trying any preventive methods, as they can help you make informed decisions based on your specific treatment plan and health condition. 1. **Scalp Cooling (Cold Caps):** Scalp cooling is a method that involves wearing a special cap or cold cap before, during, and after chemotherapy treatment. These caps are designed to reduce blood flow to the scalp, which can potentially limit the amount of chemotherapy drugs that reach the hair follicles. While scalp cooling has shown some success in reducing hair loss, it doesn't work for all chemotherapy drugs and may not be suitable for all types of cancer. 2. **Dose Reduction or Alternative Drugs:** In some cases, your oncologist may be able to adjust your chemotherapy dosage or use alternative drugs that have a lower risk of causing hair loss. This approach depends on your specific cancer type and treatment plan, and it may not always be an option. 3. **Nutritional Support:** Maintaining a healthy diet during chemotherapy can potentially support overall well-being and hair health. Ensure you're getting essential nutrients like protein, vitamins, and minerals. Speak with a registered dietitian to create a personalized nutrition plan. 4. **Gentle Hair Care:** Treat your hair gently during chemotherapy. Use a mild shampoo and conditioner, and avoid hot water, heated styling tools, and harsh hair treatments. Use a wide-toothed comb or a soft brush to minimize hair breakage. 5. **Scalp Care:** Maintain good scalp hygiene by using a gentle, pH-balanced shampoo. Avoid excessive heat and tight hairstyles that can pull on your hair and scalp. 6. **Wigs, Scarves, and Headwear:** Consider purchasing wigs, scarves, or hats to help manage hair loss and maintain your confidence during treatment. It's important to remember that not all chemotherapy drugs cause hair loss, and the degree of hair loss can vary. Discuss your concerns about hair loss with your oncologist, as they can provide guidance on what to expect based on your specific treatment plan and recommend appropriate supportive care measures. Additionally, many individuals find support through cancer support groups, counseling, or talking with a therapist to address the emotional aspects of hair loss during chemotherapy.
